Total facilities management company, Vertas Group Limited, has won a five-year catering contract extension with Suffolk One, an outstanding Sixth Form College in Ipswich, Suffolk.

Vertas Group has created a unique food and beverage experience at Suffolk One, reflecting high street trends whilst ensuring their offer is balanced and healthy to support the wellbeing of students.

As part of the contract, Vertas Group has introduced innovative technology, including contactless payment terminals, and an app for students to pre-order their food and take advantage of promotional offers.

There has also been a total rebrand of the food court with a street market look and feel, creating a vibrant space for students to meet. Vegan dishes have been introduced in partnership with Hank’s Dirty, a local vegan food company.

Geoffrey Bligh, Director of Hank’s Dirty comments, “We’re excited to be partnering with Vertas Group on this exciting new project. Bringing accessible, affordable vegan food to the mainstream market has always been part of our core mission and working with such a well-respected brand in food service is the perfect fit for Hanks.”

Ethically sourced fair-trade coffee has been introduced in partnership with Combat2Coffee. Vertas Group has invested in a coffee and snack van for Combat2Coffee to serve exceptional coffee that will be open for a grab-and-go offer every day.

Nigel Seaman, Founder of Combat2Coffee, comments, “Combat2Coffee is excited to be working with Vertas Group at Suffolk One. Not only will we have a far greater reach with our message regards to Mental Health for the armed forces community but now with young people. At Suffolk One, we will not only provide great tasting, ethically sourced fair-trade coffee, but we will also encourage students to discuss Mental Health in a safe environment.”

A spokesperson from One Sixth Form College, said: “We are delighted to be celebrating a six-year working relationship with Vertas.

“They (Vertas) have been by our side during many occasions, supporting results days, fashion shows, film awards nights, student and staff celebrations.

“In addition to this, they have worked with us on a charity bake off event for the East Anglian Air Ambulance Service and helped develop edible straws, biodegradable salad boxes and reusable mugs for an ongoing environmental effort that we have at the college.

“We look forward to working with them in the future.”

Karen Burrowes, Associate Director of Operations at Vertas Group comments: “Vertas Group has held the Suffolk One catering contract for over five years and has built a strong foundation with the college. The new catering provision is an exciting experience for students, and we hope that our partnership with local suppliers will inspire pupils to make ethical food choices.”
