Vote For Us In The Suffolk Business Awards!

Submitted by Amelia O'Hanlon | 07/08/2020

We’re extremely proud to announce that Vertas, jointly with SENDAT (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Academies Trust) has been nominated for the ‘Changing Lives Special Recognition Award’, which is open to public vote as part of ‘Suffolk Business Awards 2020’.

The Suffolk Business Awards 2020 organised by East Anglian Daily Times, sponsored by Suffolk Chamber of Commerce and Sizewell C, celebrate Suffolk’s businesses that have a success story that deserves telling.

About the Changing Lives Special Recognition Awards

The award recognises those who have adapted and have put the community first in the fight against Covid-19. This award was open to those who have been thinking differently and halted their normality to help others during this crisis. Demonstrating innovation and the re-purposing of their services for the greater good and not for profitability.

Our Story

When Covid-19 closed schools March many families of children with special educational needs and disabilities were at risk – without school meals, learning and basic supplies. Vertas and SENDAT delivered 400 welfare packs to these families. “In the first weeks of lockdown free school vouchers were not yet available, and we knew that our families would be struggling. We have heard from many that the parcels were really useful and meant that they could provide meals for their children. As the crisis continued Vertas delivered work packs and activities to students’ homes, allowing them to learn.” Lawrence Chapman, SENDAT CEO.
