Vertas Chef Cooks up Success

We are delighted to announce that Shaun Cooper, Head of Kitchen at Jane Austen College in Norwich, is through to the East of England regional final of the LACA School Chef of the Year (SCOTY) 2020 competition. The event, sponsored by McDougalls, is on Tuesday 21st January 2020 at Premier Foods, St Albans.

Entrants have 90 minutes to prepare, cook and serve an imaginative two course menu which reflects the school food standards, being suitable to serve to 11-year-old pupils and includes at least one McDougalls product in each course.

The East of England final is one of the ten regional finals, all taking place from November 2019 to January 2020. The national final will be in March 2020. Head of the Judging Panel is Mark Rigby, executive chef at Premier Foods who will oversee each stage of the competition. The other judges include Sharon Armstrong, an education catering expert, and a catering industry professional guest judge at each location.

Congratulations from all at Vertas to Shaun who has worked extremely hard on his entry and has received very positive initial feedback from the judges.
