National Food Safety Week 2022

National Food Safety Week aims to draw attention and inspire action to help prevent, detect, and manage foodborne risks. Globally, one in ten people is affected by foodborne illnesses annually. The good news is that most foodborne illnesses are preventable.

Safe food is essential to human health and well-being. Only when food is safe can we fully benefit from its nutritional value and from the mental and social benefits of sharing a safe meal. Safe food is one of the most critical guarantors of good health.

Vertas Group provides catering solutions in cafes, schools, and corporate buildings throughout Great Britain. To protect our colleagues and customers, the effectiveness of our food safety management system is continuously monitored at the point of use, and it is reviewed at least twice per year in partnership with the Primary Authority. All our catering colleagues are trained to food safety level 2 standards, and managers are trained to a minimum of food safety level 3. Around 90% of our catering facilities achieve a food hygiene rating of 5, any that score less than a rating of 5 is reassessed at the earliest opportunity.
