Churchill Catering, the commercial catering arm of Vertas, has a strong relationship with Chelmsford County Council, built on trust, flexibility, integrity and a partnership approach.
We were awarded the contract by Chelmsford City Council to design, install and operate a new café within the multi-million-pound transformation at Riverside Leisure Centre, Chelmsford, Essex.
The City Council chose us as the partner of choice due to our flexible approach and commitment shown to this complex and enormous project.

- Event catering including bar service for the Ice Hockey Rink and tournaments held on the premises
Objectives
- To produce an innovative commercial café design that complements the overall designs of the leisure centre, creating an atmosphere for people of all ages to enjoy
- To incorporate new state of the art designs using high quality finishes that represents quality and value
- To support the Government’s ‘Tuck In’ initiative, providing health options.
Solution
- We worked in partnership with a trusted design partner to completely redesign the leisure centre café area
- Achieved a modern look, using well-known local coffee partner Paddy & Scott’s, incorporating their branding to enforce a strong colour scheme, warm shades and comfortable furnishings. Creating a branded destination café to attract not only members of the leisure facility but a hub where people from the community can meet with friends and colleagues
- Created menus using local suppliers that are innovative, attractive and crafted with the customer in mind to provide a comprehensive choice to satisfy the diverse customer needs, ensuring everyone who visited could find something they enjoyed.
