Henley Primary School – Landscaping Case Study

We were asked by Henley Primary School to revamp their tired-looking early years’ outdoor space which consisted of a damp area with a worn carpet and very little educational development areas for the children to learn and play with.

Our Objectives

  • To design an inspiring, creative learning area for the children
  • To facilitate new styles of educational play in every aspect of the early years’ area, which was underused
  • To work with the school to design and build an area based on their needs and wishes.

Our Solution

  • We opened up the area to create more light and air by reducing the height of a hedge helping to dry out the area
  • We repaired and replaced the existing fence posts that had become rotten and installed a new drainage system
  • We installed a new ‘all weather’ surface to enable year-long usage of the area and included a new pebble beach theme.

Customer Benefits

Working with the school to plan, design and implement this project meant that the school gains the most out of this area. The design worked really well, providing a lighter, brighter feel for the children. The installation of artificial turf meant that upkeep would be low and the children can enjoy an outdoor learning space all year round.

“Needless to say, we are delighted with the work which has been carried out by Vertas. Norman, Landscape Project Designer, is a star and really listens to the client. He also has imagination and flair.” – Headteacher
