Vauxhall Christian Trust – Grounds Case Study

Brief

The Vauxhall Christian Trust invited the Vertas Group Grounds team to submit a quotation for a sports playing surface within a recent barn conversion.

The work was won by Vertas in competition and commissioned by Vauxhall Christian Trust on 22 March 2016.

The original brief including the installation of a synthetic carpet and line markings for three different sports i.e. 5-aside football, Badminton and Basketball.

After further discussions with the customer the brief was amended to include a Futsal pitch, four Badminton courts and a Netball court.

Solution

The synthetic carpet (Match Play 2 from Playrite) was delivered early June and the surface installed over a two week period.

The project also included replacing a small carpet within a marque on site, which is used for various social functions and events with off-cuts / spare synthetic carpet, which greatly improved the visual appearance of the facility.

Ensuring
all the playing surfaces for various sports could be accommodated properly,
allowing sufficient run off at pitch end (in accordance with sporting body
regulations) was a challenge, however these were adhered to.

The four badminton courts
were accommodated but in order to ensure adequate space between courts and
court lines, we reached a compromise with the customer to provide two double
and two single courts.
