The Role:

We have a fantastic opportunity for a Senior Buyer to join our busy Procurement team based in Ipswich, Suffolk.

This role will be responsible for the delivery of procurement advice and support in addition to supplier & client relationship management across the Vertas Group Holdings.

Main responsibilities for the Senior Buyer:

  • End-to-end delivery of tender activities as allocated, from initial requirements gathering market analysis, tender/contract award and post tender analysis and lessons learnt
  • Delivery and set-up of tender activities, including use competitive quotation initiatives, outcome evaluation reports and trackers, through to final contract award
  • Establishing partnering relationships with internal stakeholders supporting any tendering processes, quoting processes to deliver best value solutions to the organisation
  • Working as a business partner model with internal stakeholders across the group, attending meetings as required, when tendering projects are in progress, including facilitating supplier meetings and presentations to set deadlines and ensuring all due diligence and best practice processes are adhered to by stakeholders and suppliers throughout.
  • Regularly reviewing existing and new commercial agreements, in order to deliver cost or efficiency savings through data analysis of existing spend across a range of suppliers
  • Delivery of supplier relationship management to ensure that suppliers and supply agreements continue to add value to the Company.
  • Ensuring continuity of supply of goods and services to the Company.
  • Identifying, evaluating and developing new sources of supply for existing and new requirements to improve the company’s competitiveness and cost reduction KPI.
  • Actively participating in, and leading when appropriate, cross functional activity to highlight opportunities for cost reduction, supplier optimisation and added value.
  • Ensuring that procurement cost savings are achieved or surpassed in accordance with annual targets to reduce the running costs of the business.
  • Maintaining correct suppliers spend and discount data.
  • Operating in all business activities both ethically and with a high standard of service, professionalism and integrity.

The Senior Buyer will have / be:

  • MCIPS qualified or be working towards this along with the relevant experience with a proven track record.
  • Highly organised with the ability to prioritise workload.
  • Experience of working within a fast-paced environment, ideally with Facilities Management procurement.
  • Public Sector Procurement knowledge desirable but not essential
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must be computer literate and proficient in the use of Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Able to work on their own initiative managing a range of tasks effectively and within agreed standards and deadlines.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.

Up to £35,000 per annum dependent upon skills and experience

Monday to Friday, 7.5 hours per day

Beacon House, Ipswich, Suffolk

37.5 hours a week, 52 weeks per year
