Vertas wins Gold at newly launched Eat Out, Eat Well Award for the catering service at Endeavour House in Ipswich. The Eat Out, Eat Well initiative was today launched at the Suffolk Healthier Food Award event at Center Parcs, Elveden Forest.
The launch was attended by business owners, councillors, and agriculture representatives.
The event encouraged businesses to provide healthy alternatives at their food outlets and promote those who have already acquired their accreditation, including Vertas Group Limited and Center Parcs!
The Eat Out Eat Well award is a new countywide food award recognising, caterers’, retailers’, and restaurants’ commitment to providing healthier food choices.
To achieve the award, businesses must pass a rigorous assessment carried out by environmental health officers, with criteria based on the principles of a healthy balanced diet. These include keeping fat, sugar and salt to a minimum, making fruit and vegetables widely available and basing main meals on starchy carbohydrates.
With an estimated 75% of adults eating out at least once every week, but over two thirds of 19-64 year olds failing to meet their five-a-day fruit and vegetable allocation, Suffolk’s public health team is joining forces with the county’s environmental health teams to introduce the award to offer healthier choices.
